DOMINGUISO
Parish council of the Town Hall of Covilhã, having as orago the Saint Spirit.
Situated in the diapers of the Serra da Estrela and to the right margin of River Zêzere, to be 10 km of the headquarters of the Council.
Old parish of the Saint Spirit of the Dominguiso, was attached curat to the parish priest of S. João in Col and of approach of the parish priest in the term of the Covilhã.
In 2 of November of 1926 she only passes to the situation of Meeting of parish of the Dominguiso.
D. Teresa Alexandrina de Almeida Pais Castello Branco, it was the only Viscountess of the Dominguiso, heading that was attributed in memory of valuable jobs given for its husband - José Augusto to it de Castello Branco, to its constitutional cause and for the exemplary charity of this Lady, who among others assisted with a great donation the District Asylum of Desvalida Infancy of Castello Branco. This heading was granted by D. Luís I, for decree of 2/08/1891 and letter of 7/09/1871.
- Chapel of S. Sebastião, that was the old Mother Church of the parish.
Still some sepultures of important people, such with the João Jose Castello Branco, born in 1767 and deceased one in 16/12/1840 exist here and were married with D. Ana Bárbara Proença Gingall.
- Mother Church, that dates of 1786 and whose bell tower was constructed in 1922.

How much to the Topónimo some versions exist:
Dominguiso is at this moment one of the populous villages of the municipality of the Covilhã. The number of inhabitants has come to go up in the last years, in contrast of that it is the global trend of the regions of the inward of country.
This village is obligatory point of pass for the populations of the south of municipality.
Land of great emigration, where many already had returned to its origins and had been established as traders and entrepreneurs.
It possesss this locality good infrastructures (road, sewers, water and light).
To notice that the light was inaugurated the 15/11/1952, the telephones the 17/03/1953 and how much to the old fountain, also called "Old Fountain"(Fonte Velha) date of 1869 and were reconstructed in 1972 and the fountain (chafariz) was inaugurated the 26/04/1931.
It has a commerce, some factory of confections, civil constructors, whom most of the workmanship hand occupies and still exists some dedicated companies of artisan form to the choice of rag or tatter (such as old) and that the being known for "Land of the Rag-pickers" (Terra dos Farrapeiros) that it saw to the little time (1997) to raise a statue in homage to all the Rag-picker of the DOMINGUISO "The Rag-picker". This last activity occupied in the villages, villages and even in the city of the typical figure of the "Rag-picker" with its bag to the coasts and its known "proclamation" ("Farrapos, peles, cera!" ="Rags, skins, beeswax"), it made the delights of news.
